What to expect

Assessment

A comprehensive assessment will be carried out of your child’s speech, language and communication. You will receive a detailed report of the assessment.

Therapy

An individualised programme of therapy will be devised for your child. Therapy will be offered as often as required. You will be given suggestions of activities for you to encourage his or her communication every day at home.

 

Therapy is adapted to suit an individual child’s needs. A variety of techniques and therapeutic approaches may be used as appropriate, including the Hanen programmes for parent child interaction, Makaton sign language, “TEACCH”, “PECS” and “Intensive Interaction”.

 

Visits

Your child may be seen at home, nursery or school as appropriate. The therapist is able to liaise with others, who are regularly involved with your child to support his or her communication development.

 

Training

Training packages on topics related to children’s speech and language are devised and provided for both professionals and parents.
